For another part of instruction we can include different methods of instructing the students to focus their attention on you. Another technology tool that can be used for this is called Nearpod. It is a presentation device where you can create an interactive powerpoint that can include content, quizzes, polls, virtual tours, and many more things. For this tool all of your students can use a code to enter into the presentation so that it is in front of them on their device. You can see who all is connected and even use it to take attendance based on who answers the questions. It can also be used as a formative assessment.
In the Danielson Framework, the Nearpod presentation would fit into domain three which is instruction. For the elements it would fit into 3b through 3d. It would fit into 3b because you are using questioning techniques in this. You can ask a single question for a student to type in their answer and that leads into component 3c, engaging your students. By having different activities within the nearpod it keeps the student engaged and not zoning out in the middle of the presentation. It would also fit into 3d because you are utilizing the quiz portion in Nearpod. This challenges them to listen and by having an assessment it helps them grasp the information given.
For your classroom, you could use this for many things. For assessments you could have one at the end to see how effective your presentation was. Also, if you are reading about a country you could have a virtual tour so that they get excited about the place and want to learn more. Another way you could incorporate this into your classroom is to have your lessons put up. This will keep each student engaged in the lesson by using that code. I would like to use this in my future classroom. In high school, my teacher utilized this for a first period class ad it kept people awake and engaged. I would love to incorporate this into my classroom.
